Youth and Children at Seaside UMC

At Seaside, we believe that one of the greatest gifts, and responsibilities, given to us by God is the care of children. We love having children in our midst and take great joy in telling them the stories of Jesus that teach them of their worth and value in the kingdom.

As a senior adult community, Sunset Beach is just now beginning to see expansion with younger families moving into our neighborhoods. Our Youth & Children’s ministries are also small, but growing as we welcome more families into our midst. We welcome families and seek to grow our ministries to children that can provide them with discipleship opportunities geared just for them.

Seaside is a Safe Sanctuaries Congregation and we take the care and protection of children quite seriously. All of our volunteers have background checks and training on appropriate policies and procedures in working with minors.

Safe Sanctuaries

Safe Sanctuaries is a training module that is required for all volunteers working with minors or vulnerable adults. This curriculum is utilized by churches nationwide, but is also specifically crafted towards the unique needs of Seaside. Along with this training, each volunteer undergoes a criminal background check every 5 years.

Nursery

We offer Nursery to children ages 3 and under during our 9:30 and 11:00 worship services. Our nursery is staffed by two volunteers at all time and is in a secure location in our building where only volunteers and parents/guardians are permitted access. If you would like information about the nursery on a Sunday visit, please see one of our ushers or greeters and they will be delighted to assist you.

Preschool Sunday School

Due to a small amount of preschoolers in our congregation at this time, our 4 & 5’s attend Sunday School with our older children.As the need arises for a separate class we will provide one accordingly.

Children’s Sunday School

Children’s Sunday School is held during our 9:30 worship service. Parents/Grandparents are to bring children into the worship service for the opening music and a children’s sermon with one of the pastors. At that time, all kids ages 4 - 5th grade are invited to exit the service with the Sunday School teachers for the remainder of the service.

Children’s Sunday School is held September - May. During the summer we encourage children to worship alongside their families. Children’s bulletins, crayons, and a small fidget toy are given to each child when they enter the Sanctuary.

Joyful Noise

Joyful Noise is a children’s choir experience designed for kids ages 4 through 5th grade. Through music, Bible stories, and engaging activities like crafts and games, children explore their faith in a fun and meaningful way.

Participants have the opportunity to share what they learn through music in Sunday worship throughout the year.

Vacation Bible School

Get ready for a fun-filled week at VBS in our Squishy Fruit Orchard, where kids will discover how Jesus grows something amazing inside of us! Through engaging Bible stories, high-energy games, creative activities, hands-on science, and tasty treats, children will explore the Fruit of the Spirit in a way they’ll never forget. Each day introduces a new fruit friend and a powerful truth—like love, joy, peace, and more—that helps kids understand how Jesus is at work in their hearts. It’s an exciting, interactive week designed to help kids grow in faith, build friendships, and have a whole lot of fun!

This year’s dates for VBS are June 15 - June 19. Children ages 4 (as of June 9) through rising 5th grade are welcome to attend. VBS meets from 9 a.m. - Noon. The morning includes music and games, Bible lessons, crafts, snacks and worship time together. There is no cost to attend, but pre-registration is required. Registration opens May 1st. Preschool (ages 4 & 5) limited to 12 spots.

MYF

The MYF Youth Group, The Seaside Buccaneers Youth by the Sea is currently undergoing a leadership change but will still meet several times per month. You are encouraged to check the church calendar for date and meeting times.

All youth 6th-12th grade are invited to join in on the fun.
